Star Wars Rebels will finally return for the second half of its third season this weekend. Disney XD has released a brand new mid-season trailer for the animated series, giving us a look at some of the things that we should expect to see over the next few episodes, including an Alec Guinness-version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, voiced by Stephen Stanton.
The sneak peek offers up our first look at Mon Mothma and several Death Troopers, who can be seen alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn. It also teases a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, something that fans have been waiting to see for a long time.
You can watch the trailer below.
As previously reported, the upcoming mid-season premiere will introduce Saw Gerrera, with Forest Whitaker reprising (vocally) his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently talked about the studio’s plans for the character, revealing that he was originally intended to have a bigger role in the Gareth Edwards-directed and that he could be part of other Star Wars projects:
“To be honest, we originally thought we were going to develop Saw into something much larger, but we couldn’t accommodate it. So he is not in the movie as much as we would like to have him in the movie, which creates the opportunity to explore his character even further in our future development.”
Rebels returns with “Star Wars Rebels: Ghosts of Geonosis, Parts One and Two,” on Saturday, January 7th at 8:30-9:30 p.m. EST on Disney XD. Are you excited?
