When Star Wars Rebels first premiered, fans got a new glimpse at the iconic galaxy far, far away during a particular time period. The series takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. It is the second official animated series that is part of the canon of the entire universe and has since introduced new characters alongside some appearances of classic characters such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul and Lando Calrissian.
Some of the franchise’s most iconic ships have appeared in the show, but fans have yet to see X-Wings appear in animated form. Thankfully, we will finally see the ships take flight in the fourth and final season of this series.
Executive Producer Henry Gilroy announced at Dragon Con that we will finally see X-Wings with our favorite Rebels. As it turned out, the reason why we have yet to see them take flight is because the Rebellion did not have them yet.
When we see the X-Wings appear on Rebels, do you think we will see any of the Ghost Crew fly them in battle? Sound off in the comments below.
Star Wars Rebels was created by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sherlock Holmes), and Carrie Beck. The Lucasfilm animated series is executive-produced by Filoni and Kinberg.
The series features the voice cast of Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Sam Witwer as Maul, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
