Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker saw many characters die and this original trilogy character’s fall has sadly been confirmed.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has noticeably divided fans and critics with some enjoying the film and some not. A common complaint against the film is that the film’s editing made it feel rushed at times and it was easy to miss out on a lot. One such thing seems to have been the death of an original trilogy character.

Writer Bryan Young caught this death stating that original trilogy character Nien Nunb died in the film. The character died in the film’s climactic battle but it was a death that many seemed to have missed. This was later confirmed by Star Wars writer Rae Carson who is writing the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Expanded Edition novel in a Twitter exchange:

Nien Nunb was first introduced to audiences in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi. In it, he was Lando Calrissian’s co-pilot in the Battle of Endor. He notably pointed out that they weren’t getting a reading on the second Death Star’s shield, causing Lando to realize that the Empire had set a trap for them, telling everyone to break off the attack. Sadly, it seems, that Nien Nunb did not survive this final round with the Emperor’s forces.

Did you all catch Nien Nunb’s death in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Was the editing to fast for you to notice? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
