When a Twitter fan asked fan artist BossLogic to come up with a photoshop of what Daredevil actress Rosario Dawson could look like as a live-action version of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels heroine Ahsoka Tano, Dawson unexpectedly chipped in and said that she’d love to play the character in a show or movie.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with The Clone Wars or Rebels, Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan that was assigned to him early on into the Clone Wars. Although reception to the character was cold at first, Ahsoka’s overall character arc and struggles endeared her to fans over time. Eventually, Ahsoka made the decision to leave the Jedi Order after her faith in the institution was shattered – something that would haunt her master and serve to influence his turn to the Dark Side – but this would spare her when Order 66 was implemented. After going into hiding, Ahsoka would later go on to operate as the first “Fulcrum” operative to recruit operatives for the nascent Rebel Alliance. After an encounter with Darth Vader on the Sith planet of Malachor, her fate was left unknown, but there are hints that she may have survived both in-universe and from her creator Dave Filoni.
Even if we operate on the presumption that Ahsoka didn’t make it after all, there’s still a 16-year time skip between Ahsoka’s decision to leave the Jedi Order and her duel on Malachor, and that’s more than enough time to tell a story which would fit Rosario Dawson’s age range. In any case, Dawson’s support for #AhsokaLives could indicate that she would be up to playing the character in a later time period if such a story demanded it. Should Ahsoka make the jump from the animated series to live-action, she would be the second major character to do so following Rogue One‘s Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker). In any case, it speaks volumes about the popularity of the character if an actress of Dawson’s caliber would be interested in playing the character.
Star Wars Rebels returns on February 18 and airs on Saturday nights.
