The penultimate episode of The Mandalorian concluded with a heartbreaking cliffhanger and the death of a Star Wars character.

The latest episode of The Mandalorian centers on the titular bounty hunter assembling a team of allies from the past, including Cara Dune and Kuiil, to join Greef Karga on a mission to take out The Client. Returning to Navarro in hopes of securing freedom for himself and Baby Yoda, the Mandalorian’s mission concluded with the death of one of his allies introduced earlier in the Star Wars series.

Towards the end of the episode, Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon arrives and is revealed the be the one who hired the client to retrieve the child before ordering his stormtroopers to kill everyone in the facility, including The Client. Later, the stormtroopers learn that Baby Yoda is near the Razorcrest and a chase begins, with The Mandalorian and Kuiil hoping to reach the child before the stormtroopers. However, while it initially appears as if Kuiil will make it to the Razorcrest, he is tragically killed before he can make it.

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.

Dave Filoni will direct the first episode of Star Wars series and additional episodes will be helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, and Jessica Jones director Deborah Chow.

The Mandalorian is now available exclusively on Disney Plus.
