Lucasfilm released the first trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian at Disney’s D23 event today.
The trailer for the first-ever live-action Star Wars television series, The Mandalorian, was revealed to fans today during the Disney+ Showcase at Disney’s D23 biennial expo and has been released online to those not lucky enough to attend the convention.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producer Jon Favreau who has written the series and produces alongside Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Colin Wilson, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Karen Gilchrist serves co-executive producer. In addition to executive producing, Filoni has also been confirmed to direct the first episode with additional episodes helmed by Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
The new series is set after Return of the Jedi will explore the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies for the first time in live-action. Pedro Pascal stars as the titular character, along with Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. Here’s the official synopsis:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian will debut exclusively on Disney’s upcoming direct to consumer streaming service, which is set to launch November 12.
Following The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm will also be launching a second live-action series which will serve as Rogue One prequel series will follow Diego Luna as he reprises his role as Cassian Andor, working as an intelligence operative during the formative years of the Rebel Alliance. Production on the series will next year after the star completes work on the second season of Narcos: Mexico.
