The epic Death Star duel in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was filmed on Adam Driver’s birthday.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy has largely centered on the complex relationship between Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Rey, the latter of whom hoped to former could be redeemed. Their struggle culminated with an epic lightsaber duel on the ruins of the Death Star and it turns out the sequence was filmed on an important day for Adam Driver.
In the behind-the-scenes documentary titled The Skywalker Legacy, fans learn that Adam Driver performed on the most difficult stunts of the duel on his birthday, November 19th. While the scene proved to be exhausting, Adam Driver noted that he still loved the experience:
“It was really physically exhausting, and we were wet and soaked and cold and on wires–I loved it. How many times are you gonna get a chance to do that?”
