The official Star Wars Twitter account responded to one user’s negative comments towards Kelly Marie Tran and Billie Lourd with a brilliant takedown.
Kelly Marie Tran joined the Star Wars saga in The Last Jedi, where she appeared as a Resistance maintenance worker, Rose Tico. Rose joined forces with John Boyega’s Finn on a mission to the casino city of Canto Bight in that film and returned, in a smaller role, in The Rise of Skywalker. Billie Lourd is the real-life daughter of Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher and appeared throughout the sequel trilogy as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix. She was also the body double for the younger version of her mother’s character during a flashback sequence in The Rise of Skywalker.
Ratioed By Star Wars
On Sunday, during Star Wars Celebration, the official Star Wars Twitter account shared an image of Kelly Marie Tran and Billie Lourd as they took to the Anaheim convention’s LIVE! stage. Tran in particular has been the unfortunate target of toxic comments and harrassment from online trolls in the past and this post attracted one such comment.
However, whoever was running the Star Wars account decided they weren’t going to take the Kelly Marie Tran/Billie Lourd hate lying down. After a user had responded to the original post with “Respectfully no one likes either of them,” the Star Wars account hit back with a tweet that simply read “Respectfully, L + ratio.” Check out the unexpected comeback below:
At the time of writing, the commenter’s response to the original tweet featuring Kelly Marie Tran and Billie Lourd has gained 487 likes, while the Star Wars account’s response has over 38,000. It is disappointing to see such hate still being leveled at actors from the sequel trilogy, but great to see the Star Wars team sticking up for their cast members and it is clear to see which side the fans have taken. On this occasion, whoever’s running the Star Wars Twitter account has the high ground.
