‘Stargirl’ Actress Brec Bassinger Shares Excitement Over CW Deal

Brec Bassinger has shared her excitement regarding Stargirl airing on The CW.

Earlier today, it was announced that Stargirl would be airing on The CW a day after its episodes premiere on the DC Universe streaming service. A deal of this sorts is highly unusual, as it is quite rare for a show to air concurrently on both a streaming service and network. Regardless of the politics regarding streaming services, this is fantastic news for Stargirl actress Brec Basinger. Announced as Stargirl in 2018, Brec Bassinger shared her excitement regarding joining The CW family on Instagram. In the picture, Brec Bassinger is throwing up a peace sign and donning the classic Stargirl outfit.

Brec Bassinger will more than likely jump into the spotlight and gain international recognition when Stargirl begins airing in 2020. Brec Bassinger has had brief roles in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and Status Update. In Stargirl, Brec Bassigner will be playing Courtney Whitmore, a character inspired by Geoff Johns own sister. There isn’t any indication as to when Stargirl will be airing in 2020.

Here is the official synopsis for DC Universe’s Stargirl:

High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitemore, Joel McHale as Starman, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal, Christopher James, and Jake Austin Walker in undisclosed roles. Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl. Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

Stargirl is scheduled to debut on DC Universe and The CW in 2020.
