It was revealed during a DC FanDome Milestone Comics panel that a live-action Static Shock movie is in the works.

There was a lot of speculation when the DC FanDome schedule went up regarding the surprise panel that was listed. That panel ended up being one celebrating Milestone Comics, a label started in the ’90s from African American comic book creators. One of the most popular characters to come from the comic book label is Static Shock, in large part due to the animated series from the early 2000s.

During the DC FanDome panel, it was not only revealed that the Milestone Media label will be returning, but that a live-action Static Shock film is in development over at Warner Bros. Filmmaker Reginald Hudlin made the Static Shock movie announcement during the panel and had this to say regarding future Milestone Media content:

“We’re talking with other divisions at Warner Bros, even those in animated about doing (Milestone Media) feature films, and we’re also involved in extending the Milestone characters into new media, like podcasts with a series of stories on podcast. We want to deliver Milestone Media on whatever platform you want.”

The animated Static Shock series featured the voicing talents of Phil LaMarr, Jason Marsden, Kevin Michael Richardson, Michele Morgan, and Crystal Scales.
