In 1961, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created the iconic Spider-Man character together. The concept was created after the fallout with Jack Kirby. Lee tasked Ditko to make something different for the Marvel character after not being satisfied with Kirby’s work. This led to the famous incarnation of Spider-Man today, including the web shooters, the red and blue design. If it were not for Ditko, Spider-Man himself would have been a whole different character in the pages of Marvel comics.

The famous Marvel comic book legend is also known for the creation of Doctor Strange, which took a more trippy superhero approach. Beyond these two characters, the man has a fascinating history which is worth reading about when the opportunity arises.

He will be missed.
