TheWrap reports Storm Reid is being eyed to play the daughter of Idris Elba’s character in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

When Idris Elba was cast in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, it was reported the actor was going to take over the role of Deadshot from Will Smith. However, the creative team later opted to have Idris Elba play a new character instead, with the most recent rumor suggesting he was going to portray Bronze Tiger.

While official details on Idris Elba’s role have yet to be confirmed, A Wrinkle in Time star Storm Reid is being eyed to join the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad as the daughter of Idris Elba’s character. In addition to her role as Meg in Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, Storm Reid’s credits include HBO’s Euphoria and Netflix’s When They See Us.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the new take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie, with Idris Elba playing a fresh character, Jai Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman playing Rick Flag again, David Dastmalchian starring as Polka-Dot Man, and Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller. John Cena reportedly in talks for an undisclosed role.

The Suicide Squad is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The BatmanThe FlashGreen Lantern CorpsBirds of PreyBlack AdamNightwingSupergirl and New Gods.

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
