‘Stranger Things’ Star Gaten Matarazzo Wants To Be In ‘Star Wars’

Gaten Matarazzo Star Wars Stranger Things

Ever since the first season of the series premiered on Netflix in the summer of 2016, Stranger Things has become a cultural phenomenon thanks to its nostalgia for the 1980s, gripping storytelling and instantly-lovable characters. The cast of the series has been heavily praised – particularly the younger performers, and one of the stars Gaten Matarazzo is now expressing interest in moving from the Upside Down to a galaxy far, far away with the Star Wars universe.

During a recent appearance at the Salt Lake City FanX convention, Matarazzo revealed the extent of his fandom of Star Wars and expressed a desire to join the iconic franchise in the future. In response to a question about getting a call to be part of that franchise, the Stranger Things star responded with the following:

“I want to know that too. I’m not kidding. My uncle from Michigan came to visit me for a summer when I was six years old, and he got me obsessed with Star Wars.”

Production on Season 3 of Stranger Things is still underway, with the highly-anticipated third entry in the cultural phenomenon set to drop on Netflix sometime in 2019.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Paul Reiser.

All episodes of the first two seasons of Stranger Things are now available to stream on Netflix.

Meanwhile, the final entry in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: Episode IX is currently in production.

Directed by J.J. Abrams from a script written by Abrams and Chris Terrio, the film stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Dominic Monaghan, Matt Smith, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher.

Star Wars: Episode IX arrives in our galaxy on December 20, 2019.
