Reports on James Gunn writing and potentially directing Warner Bros.’ next Suicide Squad prompted Dave Bautista – who starred in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films – to express his interest in joining the DC film. Now, Michael Rosenbaum has joined Bautista in offering his talent to the James Gunn Suicide Squad film, which would reunite the Smallville alum with the filmmaker after having portrayed Martinex in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Details on James Gunn’s Suicide Squad are currently unknown, though he will reportedly have a new take on the material and the film may not be a sequel to David Ayer’s first installment in the franchise.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as The Joker, all three of whom were expected to reprise their roles in the sequel. Although the film earned mixed reviews, at best, it became a box office hit for DC with a worldwide gross of $750 million.

Suicide Squad 2 is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The BatmanThe Flash standalone film, Green Lantern CorpsBirds of PreyBlack AdamCyborgNightwingSupergirl, New Gods, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.

In today’s market there is no reason for these stupid staggered releases that force people to avoid spoilers for a week or more. If the spoilers sell it for some people they can wait until after opening weekend. See you on Friday.

It sounds like this movie will be awesome, and Cumberbatch is terrific in everything he does, but there’s no need to give him screen time in Thor 3. His time will come (Infinity War and beyond as one of the main faces of the MCU), but for Thor 3, I’m content to have Hulk smashing and keeping the story on him & Thor.
