‘Suicide Squad’s’ Captain Boomerang Will Adapt Many Versions Of The Comic Character

Captain Boomerang

With Suicide Squad opening this weekend, we will get to see many of the bad guys of Task Force X. One of those members is Digger Harkness AKA Captain Boomerang. Harkness is an assassin whose weapons of choice are nunchucks…. kidding, of course, they are boomerangs. Fans of the character are quite familiar with his many iterations throughout the years. He first appeared in comics as part of the Suicide Squad during the 1980s. Back then he was a little chubby and had a strange costume, but died early on. His next iteration was his slimmer son, who had powers in addition to boomerangs. When the New 52 rebooted, so did Captain Boomerang and he was somewhat a hybrid of his old and new iterations of the character. Harkness also briefly appeared on the CW’s Arrow as well. Needless to say, there’s a lot of material to choose from for inspiration for the new Suicide Squad film.

Which version of Digger Harkness will Suicide Squad’s Captain Boomerang be?

Actor Jai Courtney recently had to opportunity to talk about his character.

“I think, I mean it is somewhat of an amalgamation I think, it’s probably the fairest thing to say. I was curious about that, and look I have my own ideas but we’re not bound, we haven’t set something up that we’re bound by, and David and I had a discussion about that early on. I mean look, who knows within this property, I guess that leaves room and freedom in a sense to kind of go either way, but at this stage it’s not necessarily specified.”

Suicide Squad opens nationwide August 5, 2016
