Obi-Wan Kenobi star Sung Kang has revealed that he will wield a lightsaber in the upcoming Star Wars series for Disney Plus.

Earlier this year, a number of cast members were added to the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This included, but was not limited to, Fast and Furious star Sung Kang. Little is known about the upcoming series or what role Kang will play in it but we now know that, at some point, he will wield a lightsaber.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Sung Kang spoke a bit about the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He didn’t reveal what role his character would have in the film, but did state he would wield a lightsaber and would have some kind of interaction with Darth Vader:

“I used to dress in the cheap Kmart plastic Halloween costumes — [of] Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader — almost every single day from eight to thirteen years old. My friends and I would play pretend, we’d make our own lightsabers out of, you know, toilet paper centers and stuff like that…To be able to be on set and see Darth Vader and see the Star Wars universe in front of me…just as a fan, to be able to be a part of that history is pretty amazing. I kept pinching myself going, ‘How did I end up here?’ And my character has a lightsaber, [and] it’s not a toy, it’s actually the real thing.”

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been described as a special event series for Disney Plus, and details on the upcoming Star Wars series are being hidden away on Tatooine. Still, we do know the series will feature a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before their final confrontation in A New Hope.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
