Season 2 of Supergirl will be featuring several new faces, both originally created and from the DC Universe as it was reported a few weeks ago that Maggie Sawyer was one of them that would be coming. The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Florina Lima (The Family) has joined the series as DC’s Maggie Sawyer who will be a recurring guest star in Season 2. Here is how THR describes Supergirl’s take on Maggie Sawyer, who will be an LGBT character just like in the comics:
“On the Warner Bros.-produced Supergirl, Maggie will be a detective for the National City Police Department who takes a special interest in the cases involving aliens.”
In the Superman lore, Maggie has been an officer of Metropolis Special Crimes and has had a romantic relationship with Batwoman. The show is currently also casting Lex Luthor’s little sister, Lena Luthor (who will be a series regular) along with Nick Farrow and a recurring guest-starring mystery character named “The Doctor”. Also, TV’s 1st Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, will also be guest starring in multiple episodes of the series’ second season as the President of the United States.
In addition, we will be meeting Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin who will be playing Clark Kent/Kal-El a.k.a. Superman in the first two episodes of Season 2 of Supergirl. As we get closer to next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, more casting news will most likely be coming out, if not at the actual Supergirl panel.
Supergirl Season 2 is set to premiere on The CW this fall on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c.
