WB Not Moving Forward On Batman, Superman Films With Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill

Variety’s report on The Flash production start date being pushed back to late 2019 also includes an update on Warner Bros. current plans regarding future Batman and Superman films with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.

The ongoing rumors suggesting Ben Affleck would soon retire from the Batman role coupled with relatively recent reports of Henry Cavill no longer playing Superman have left fans wondering what the future holds for both characters in the DCEU. Now, Variety reports that Warner Bros. is no longer moving forward with Superman or Batman films with the aforementioned actors and stated that a new actor is expected to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ film:

“The studio is not currently moving forward with Batman and Superman movies featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively. It is expected to recast the Dark Knight with a different actor for director Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman solo outing.”
