‘Superman Vs The KKK’ Film In Works Based On Book

SupermanArguably the most iconic superhero of all time, Superman has shown his bravery and might through various mediums throughout the years. The latest film Superman film in development sees him fighting the truest embodiment of evil: the KKK.

According to Deadline, the film is based on Rick Bowers’ 2012 non-fiction book Superman Versus The Ku Klux Klan: The True Story of How the Iconic Superhero Battled the Men of Hate. The book narrates the tale of how Superman battled a group similar to the KKK in Superman’s 1946 serial radio drama.

The project is being developed by Lotus Entertainment and Paperchase Films and will be executive produced by Marco Vicini. Here’s what Lotus Entertainment Co-Chairman Bill Johnson had to say about the film:

“The themes of this true story fall right in line with the type of stories that inspired me to want to make movies in the first place, we’re delighted to be partnering with PaperChase and are looking forward to a successful and enjoyable collaboration on this film with hopefully more to come in the future.”

The film’s plot will focus on a former Klan member in 1946 who goes undercover with the Anti-Defamation League and the producer of the Superman radio show. Producer Marc Rosen had this to say:

“Fighting the forces of evil with brain over brawn, artists taking down bullies, and the power of a good piece of content, it’s a real case of truth being cooler than fiction.”

PaperChase’s Dillon Jordan commented on the film as well, discussing how important the film will be,

“It’s both rare and vital to have the opportunity to align with a company like Lotus, where the creative vision matches the raw determination to bring exciting, commercially viable content to the marketplace. When presented with Superman Vs The KKK, we immediately knew we were working with a group who understand the importance of delivering profound and impactful cinematic experiences that resonate with audiences around the world.”

Executive Producer Marco Vicini is excited about the film as well, and how it tackles oppression in a peaceful way

“The story behind Superman Vs the KKK really struck a chord with me. Right away I knew I wanted to relive it by being a part of the nonviolent resistance against oppression. It is a great honor to be able to embark on such a relevant and meaningful project with such a devoted and highly experienced team of like-minded individuals.”

Superman Vs The KKK will be scripted by Katherine Lindberg. At the moment, the film does not have a director or release date.

    Feels silly to me.

The story of comic itself is stupid, but I heavily recommend for you to read the behind-the-scenes of it, because it really is shocking, and engaging a story.
