‘Swamp Thing’ Casts ‘Riverdale’ Actor Henderson Wade As Matt Cable

Deadline reports Riverdale actor Henderson Wade has joined the cast of DC Universe’s live-action Swamp Thing series as a series regular.

Wade is set to play Matt Cable in the upcoming series. His character has been officially described by the trade as “a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect.” The actor joins the cast which includes Derek Mears (The Flash), Andy Bean (Here and Now), Will Patton (Fallen Skies), Crystal Reed (Gotham), Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen (Designated Survivor) and Jeryl Prescott (The Walking Dead).

Swamp Thing follows CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed) when she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, and develop a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — who is tragically taken from her. Powerful forces descend on Houma in an effort to exploit the swamp’s mysterious properties while Abby must discover the swamp mystical secrets including that the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The series is written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman based on characters from DC created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The one-hour drama has been given a script-to-series order. Wan is executive producing the series through his Atomic Monster banned in association with Warner Bros. Television. Len Wiseman, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear also serve as executive producers with Rob Hackett co-producing. Wiseman is directing the series pilot.

Swamp Thing will be available exclusively on DC Universe in 2019.
