Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk is dazzling onlookers in a new image of the MCU’s latest hero, who arrives on Disney Plus next month.
She-Hulk will follow the story of Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, as she finds herself taking on some of her cousin’s powers and transforming into her own jolly jade giant.
The series looks set to take a lighter touch, having been described as a “half-hour legal comedy,” with its doors open to some wild cameos thanks to Jennifer’s new role in her legal profession – representing superhumans in legal cases. It’s also introducing a more reluctant hero to the MCU, as Tatiana Maslany recently revealed.
You’ll Like Her When She’s Angry
A new image from Empire magazine reveals Tatiana Maslany’s Hulked-out form standing in stark contrast to the images fans are used to seeing of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. She-Hulk wears a glamorous silver dress as she rocks up at a fancy black-tie event. Check out the new image below:
Tatiana Maslany also spoke about the series to Empire, revealing what exactly sets She-Hulk apart from other superhero series and films we’ve seen in recent years. The actress revealed that, as the trailer hints, this is the story of a superhero who really has no interest in being a superhero.
Talking about the tensions between Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk, as well as the series’ injection of comic-book energy into a legal drama format, Tatiana Maslany revealed:
“She really is the antithesis of most superhero narratives… There’s this great element of denial in her that’s relatable. For me, it was about rejecting what’s happened for as long as I could, as that’s what causes the fun tension between Jennifer and She-Hulk…
“She’s in a career that’s male-dominated and incredibly vicious and hierarchal. When she’s heading this superhuman firm, that’s where we get some really fun characters that she’s either defending or in opposition of. It’s like this really absurd take on a legal show.”
While speaking to Empire about She-Hulk, Tatiana Maslany also touched on her working relationship with Mark Ruffalo, saying they “were so goofy, like two kids who had been handed shovels by our parents and told to go and play in the sandbox.” Fans don’t have long to wait to see Maslany’s She-Hulk in action, in both the courtroom and alongside her Avenger cousin.
