The latest image from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever features Tenoch Huerta as Namor.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever features the first big screen appearance of Namor, one of Marvel’s oldest comic book characters. Tenoch Huerta, who’s best known for his work in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico and the 2017 horror film Tigers Are Not Afraid, was tasked with bringing Namor to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is making a few changes to the character for his live-action debut.

While Namor is the ruler of Atlantis in the pages of Marvel comics, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is changing the location of his home world. In the MCU, Namor is the ruler of Talocan, a location that’s inspired by Aztec culture.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever deals with the death of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa and the conflict between his kingdom and Talocan. According to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Wakanda Forever asks “how do you continue moving forward in the face of great loss and great tragedy, and in the face of a new threat, when all you want to do is maybe hide from the world, and process your grief, and a new, gigantic threat arrives that must be confronted? Which, of course, is Namor.”
