‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Star Tenoch Huerta Talks About Becoming Namor

Marvel's Sub-Mariner speaks out!

Avengers Endgame Namor Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

After being officially unveiled as Namor during Marvel Studios’ presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Tenoch Huerta has talked about taking on the role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Namor the Sub-Mariner is Marvel’s King of Atlantis – half-human, half-Atlantean and Marvel’s first mutant, Namor has been both hero and villain in the comics. When he joins the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the character will be very much a villain.

Despite leaked concept art showing him as Namor, Tenoch Huerta has been unable to discuss his work in the role until now.

Namor Enters The MCU

Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con panel saw the debut of the first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, offering fans a first glimpse of Tenoch Huerta in action as Namor.

Following his appearance in Hall H during the Marvel Studios presentation, Tenoch Huerta spoke about his role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and shared his excitement to bring Namor to the big screen.

Talking to Deadline, Huerta said he hopes people fall in love with Namor, before co-stars Lupita N’yongo and Letitia Wright stopped him giving away any spoilers:

Huerta: “I hope that people can fall in love with the character, but understand the circumstances, why he acted this way. Which is wonderful. Maybe it’s not a spoiler? No, no… It’s not a spoiler!”

N’yongo: “No! Stop there! Stop there!”

Wright: “He’s real interesting!”

After narrowly avoiding giving anything away, Huerta went on to talk about the experience of working with the other stars of the movie and feeling inspired by them:

“It’s a wonderful experience to be here and to be part of this family. They made me feel really welcome and it’s an inspiration. Me and, I hope, for the rest of the people. You can dream about something that you can see. And now the people, they can see all of us and feel inspiration. I hope so.”

Tenoch Huerta’s passion for the role of Namor and the stories being told by Marvel is plain to see. When the Namor actor makes his MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, he will be leading the armies of Atlantis against Wakanda, but what his Marvel future may hold is yet to be uncovered.

Here is the synopsis for the first film:

After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
