Tessa Thompson confirmed Christian Bale will play a villain in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.
At the beginning of the year, fans learned that former Batman actor Christian Bale was in talks to return to the world of superhero films in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder. While official details on role Bale will play are being kept under wraps, reports have claimed that he will play a villain in the God of Thunder’s fourth solo film.
Now, Tessa Thompson had confirmed details on Christian Bale’s role in Thor: Love and Thunder during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Although Tess Thompson could not reveal much about the film when asked about the project, she did express her excitement about seeing Bale joining the Marvel family in an antagonistic role:
“We’re gonna have fun. We’re gonna have fun. Taika is writing, directing. Some familair faces, some new people into the mix. Christian Bale’s gonna play our villain, which is gonna be fantastic.”
Unfortunately, Tessa Thompson did not share precise details on which villain Christian Bale will play at this time. In addition to his role as Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy, Bale is known for his acclaimed performances in projects such as The Fighter, American Hustle, The Big Short, and Vice. Most recently, Bale starred as Ken Miles in Ford v Ferrari, for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale. The film will be based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster becoming the new Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 5, 2021.
