A number of special effect techniques have been used to bring King Kong to life ever since the iconic cinematic creature debuted in the original 1933 film. The latest bit of movie magic used to bring the King of the Apes to the silver screen has been motion-capture technology with actor Terry Notary performing as the title creature in Kong: Skull Island. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Notary revealed that his next role after playing the iconic ape will be the number one henchman to Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
Notary discussed how his approach to playing a henchman to the Mad Titan will be similar to his approach when playing Kong.
“I’m working on four characters right now. I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: InfinityWar], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right hand bad guy in the film. I can’t say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullshit and just play a character truly evil. And it’s working. [Laughs] It’s truly working.”
With Thanos being touted as the greatest villain the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have ever faced, one can imagine his underlings will also be in a whole new league of their own.
Avengers: Infinity War will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The film will be released in theaters on May 3, 2018.
