New concept art from 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War shows off an alternate look for Josh Brolin’s Thanos.
While it wasn’t his first time playing the character, Josh Brolin got to shine in the role of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. In Avengers: Infinity War, we got our first solid understanding of Thanos’ intentions and how capable of an actor Josh Brolin is even under CGI. What we also got in Avengers: Infinity War was the look of his suit, which was minimalistic in design, leaving Thanos’ shoulders exposed.
Josh Brolin’s Thanos look for Avengers: Infinity War was much more sparse than the one we received in the film’s follow-up, Endgame, which was fully decked out in gold armor. However, Avengers: Infinity War concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has shared new artwork that reveals Josh Brolin’s Thanos almost had an alternate look in the movie. You can check it out below.

The artwork featured above is certainly more out there than what we saw Josh Brolin’s Thanos rock on his home planet of Titan in Avengers: Infinity War. For one, Josh Brolin’s Thanos is sporting a helmet, something he briefly had on in a flashback on Gamora’s home planet. While this alternate design certainly is cool, it bears much similarity to the armor Josh Brolin’s Thanos has in Avengers: Endgame. It’s clear that the filmmakers and artists wanted two different vibes for Josh Brolin’s Thanos in the last two Avengers movies.
