The Batman test footage that dropped earlier today gave fans their first tease at Michael Giacchino’s score.
Fans may be excited to see Robert Pattinson’s test footage for The Batman, but they’ll be glad to know that the eerie and daunting score that accompanied it was created by Michael Giacchino. One of the biggest powerhouses in film scores right now, Michael Giacchino took to Twitter to reveal alongside Matt Reeves that he was behind the music from The Batman test footage.
Yes folks that’s my music in the video Matt just sent out. Enjoy!! https://t.co/IW5LNroojL

Despite only being out for a short amount of time, a considerable amount of praise has been sent towards Michael Giacchino for approaching the character of Batman with a more percussion heavy sound. In fact, many were quick to point out that Michael Giacchino’s quick piece of music was reminiscent of Horror scores from the late 60’s and early 70’s, which gracefully separates it from the other music the character has received as of late.
Michael Giacchino joins a long line of iconic composers who have made music for Batman. Hans Zimmer famously scored Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy and lent his hand towards Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Danny Elfman scored Batman and Batman Returns, as well as the recent Justice League, taking over duties for Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL.

Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy from Warner Bros. with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
