‘The Batman’ Producer Wants To Beat Christopher Nolan Films

Can 'The Dark Knight' be topped?

Christopher Nolan Robert Pattinson The Batman

The Batman producer Dylan Clark has revealed that he intends to beat Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

It’s been over 16 years since Christopher Nolan’s first superhero film, Batman Begins debuted and changed the public perception of the character forever. He would go on to top this effort with The Dark Knight which is still considered to be one of, if not THE, best superhero films ever made. The Dark Knight Rises wasn’t treated to the same praise as its predecessor but was still overall well received by audiences and critics.

Since Christopher Nolan left the character the Hollywood shape of Batman hasn’t been the best. The character first returned to live-action for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was so poorly received by audiences and critics that even other filmmakers openly call it a mistake. Ben Affleck’s own solo project, The Batman, was completely scrapped, and the character has been without his own film for nearly a decade. Now the franchise looks like it is coming back in a big way.

Over the past couple of years, news about a new version of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson has been trickling out. This upcoming film is said to be completely separate from the DC Multiverse and director Matt Reeves calls it the scariest film the franchise. Now producer Dylan Clark has revealed his own ambitions about the film.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, The Batman producer revealed that told Christopher Nolan that he had every intention of beating what he made over ten years ago:

“It’s a thing that’s so intense that when you say yes to it, you immediately feel, ‘Oh sh-t, what we have done? How do we do this?’ I’ve said this to Chris Nolan directly: ‘Look, we’re trying to be the best Batman ever made, and we’re going to try to beat you.'”

Here is the synopsis for Matt Reeves’ The Batman:

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
