Robert Pattinson’s The Batman has been given the green light to restart filming in the UK after the DC production was shutdown to due the coronavirus.

With the infection rates of the coronavirus slowly decreasing around the world, the entertainment industry is gearing up to begin production on the projects that were caught in the crosshairs. Of the many productions that were shut down globally, two of the biggest and most prominent were Warner Bros. and DC’s The Batman and the third film in the Fantastic Beasts trilogy. The Guardian reports that the UK government and health bodies have signed off on new coronavirus safety rules, which allow projects to resume production under new guidelines.

The guidelines are pretty dense but seem perfectly adequate for studios to follow, especially considering they’ve lost some key production time due to the coronavirus. They include focusing on physical distancing, safety training and temperature tests. That being said, it is up to the production team to decide when they want to resume or start filming. The outlet reports that Warner Bros. is looking to resume production on both The Batman and Fantastic Beasts 3 as soon as it’s extremely safe. A key insider suggested that for many productions, especially those in the UK, now is the perfect and most viable time to resume filming as many projects require strict summer weather. Other productions looking to start up again include Henry Cavill’s The Witcher and Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid movie.

While both fans and the creative team on The Batman are looking forward to resume production, only time will tell when they will actually do so. The Batman ceased production in March, as the coronavirus continued to spread across the world. Due to the months long delay in production, Warner Bros. had no choice but to push back the release date of the movie. With the green light from the government, filming on The Batman can only resume whenever the studio and creative team decide to do so.
