The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed that a crucial plot point from the Herogasm storyline involving Homelander and Soldier Boy didn’t make it into season 3.
The Boys is a show that has quickly become one of the most popular series to hit the various streaming services. A hilarious parody of everything superhero-related, the series features over-the-top violence, graphic sex, lovable and hateable characters, and well-written storylines, all tied together with a consistent sense of humor. Yet, it is all based on a comic that has been controversial for its more gratuitous elements.
Once such story arc in The Boys is actually a miniseries published under the title Herogasm. The story specifically involved a bunch of heroes going to an island where they all indulge in a vacation full of sex and debauchery on unheard-of levels. It also happens to include the serious the most infamous subplot involving Soldier Boy and Homelander.
Homelander At His Worst?
In the comics, Homelander convinces Soldier Boy to sleep with him, saying that if he does well in bed he might be able to get him into The Seven. After he finishes the act, the Superman parody tells the Captain America parody that he isn’t good enough. This particular plot point, however, will be left out of the upcoming season.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Boys’ creator and showrunner revealed that this particular aspect of Herogasm will not be in The Boys‘ third season. While he was a bit vague as to why but stated that it just didn’t align with what they were trying to do with Soldier Boy’s character in the upcoming season:
“I love that scene and it’s hilarious, but for a dozen reasons, all of which will be revealed when you see the season, it ultimately just didn’t track. We talked about it. It conflicted with a lot of the other things we were trying to build with Soldier Boy. So, unfortunately, that one had to go.”
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, and Jensen Ackles.
The series returns to Amazon on June 3, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding The Boys Season 3, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
