‘Varsity’ Spin-Off Will Crossover With ‘The Boys’ Seasons 3 & 4

The upcoming spin-off will take place at Vought International's superhero college.

The Boys

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that the upcoming spin-off series will crossover with elements from seasons three and four.

The Boys just wrapped up its third season with an explosive finale, with the attention now turning towards the upcoming spin-off series. The Boys Presents: Varsity will take place at Vought International’s superhero college and be in the vein of The Hunger Games.

How Will Varsity Connect With The Boys?

In addition to Varsity, we also have The Boys Presents Diabolical, a series of animated shorts. With The Boys universe expanding, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed with Deadline how Varsity would tie into the main show:

“There’s definitely crossover, and we’re doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in Season 3 hand off to the first season in Varsity. Like there’s a presidential campaign happening in the background of that season, and there’s certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to Season 3 of The Boys. There’s Soldier Boy, etcetera, but also some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into Season 4 of the show.”

As Kripke builds out The Boys universe, he also revealed that he commends Kevin Feige for what he’s been able to accomplish with the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“I mean, it’s a very different corner of the world and it’s a different concern and thematic but it has been interesting. I give Kevin Feige a lot of credit because now that we’re dipping our toe into trying to build a universe and trying to do it well I mean, the amount that you end up trying to not just telling the same mega story, and it’s hard enough to keep one fucking show straight but to try to keep two shows straight, have them each be entertaining and their own animal but they still lock together like Voltron or something is a whole new layer of challenge that.”

Here is the synopsis for The Boys Season 3:

It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.

The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Jensen Ackles, and Paul Reiser.

Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon, with new episodes released every Friday. Stay tuned for the latest news surrounding The Boys and Anthony Starr’s Homelander, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
