With The Flash season 3 quickly approaching, fans are getting ready to enjoy the show’s version of the popular Flashpoint Paradox comic book storyline. When season two ended, Barry was seen going back in time in order to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash, which ultimately created a new timeline where everything is different. Between all the news leading up to the new season and all the trailers and promos released so far, we have a good idea of what most of the main characters will be up to in the alternate timeline. Iris West is one of the few main characters that has not yet been talked about very much.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Iris will be very much the same as the Iris we already know, but there will be a big reveal about the character from the alternate timeline in the season 3 premier. According to EW:
All I can tell you is that there’s quite a big reveal when it comes to Iris in the premiere — though that doesn’t mean she’s wildly different in the Flashpoint timeline.
So despite this “big reveal”, whatever that may entail, Iris will ultimately be the same character we’ve gotten to know all along. EW spoke to Iris West’s actress Candice Patton about what we can expect from her next season, and she confirms that even though something new will be revealed about the character in the Flashpoint timeline, Barry will still be able to count on her as his rock.
“She’s a fixed point for Barry Allen, so no matter where we see her, no matter where we find her, she’s still very similar to the Iris that we’ve always known and loved, which is why Barry sees her as the shining star in the sky. He can always find her somewhat the same.”
Patton also confirms that Iris will be much more “journalistic” next season, as the show will continue showing her reporter side even more than it already has.
“[I’ve] read some stuff where we’re moving in that direction.”
What do you think the big reveal could be? Make sure to let us know down in the comments.
The Flash season 3 is set to premier on Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm est on the CW.
