The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is generating excitement as a new promotional video unveils pivotal characters portrayed by Tom Blyth, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, and Josh Andrés Rivera. The video’s intriguing opening showcases Dinklage as Highbottom, recognized as the visionary architect behind the Hunger Games, along with fellow dignitaries.

The promotional video sets the stage for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by providing a glimpse into the universe’s key figures. Arriving in theaters on November 17, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is the first Hunger Games movie since Mockingjay – Part 2, released in 2015.

Set to follow a young Coriolanus Snow, portrayed by Tom Blyth, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will explore the origins of the character who would eventually become the infamous ruler of Panem, played by Donald Sutherland in the original movies. As a prequel, the film promises to shed light on the early years of Snow, long before he embraced his cruel and dictatorial ways.

The talent behind the new Hunger Games movie

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is being directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the final three films in the original series. Michael Arndt, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine, has penned the script alongside Assassin’s Creed scribe Michael Lesslie. In addition to Tom Blyth, the film also features Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, Burn Gorman, Fionnula Flanagan and Josh Andres Rivera, among many others.

The Hunger Games centered on Katniss Everdeen’s rising popularity on a televised battle royale death match and her subsequent leadership role in the uprising against a fascist government. Lionsgate released four films based on the novels, starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence as Everdeen opposite Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks. The film series collectively grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office.
