Fans of The Witcher have been eagerly waiting for news about the third season of the Netflix series, which stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The streaming giant has released the first trailer for the upcoming season, giving viewers a glimpse of what to expect from the show’s return.

In November 2022, Henry Cavill announced that he will be leaving The Witcher after season three, which premieres this Summer. The news left fans of the show reeling, as Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia has been a major draw for the Netflix series. The British actor will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, who has signed on to play the iconic character.

Stephen Surjik is directing the Witcher season three premiere, working from a script by Mike Ostrowski. Surjik worked on the season two episodes “A Grain of Truth” and “Kaer Morhen” while Ostrowski is an executive producer on the series with two writing credits on “Before a Fall” and “Voleth Meir.” Season three wrapped production this past September.

The future of Netflix’s The Witcher series

The third season of The Witcher is currently scheduled to hit Netflix in Summer 2023. The series has already been renewed for a fourth season, with Henry Cavill being replaced by Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, best known for his work in the Hunger Games series and the Independence Day sequel.

The first two seasons of The Witcher are currently available to stream on Netlfix. Based on the series of books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and developed for television by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher also stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey.
