‘Thor’ Star Chris Hemsworth Nearly Played Gambit In ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’

Avengers Endgame Chris Hemsworth Thor X-Men Wolverine Gambit

During an interview with Variety, Thor star Chris Hemsworth revealed he almost landed the role of Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Chris Hemsworth made his first appearance as Thor in the eponymous hero’s first standalone film in 2011, but the course of superhero film history could have played out differently had the actor landed an X-Men role he coveted before being tapped to play the God of Thunder. During a conversation about roles he missed out on, Chris Hemsworth revealed he “got very close to” playing Gambit in X-Men: Origins Wolverine. While he ultimately didn’t land either role, with Taylor Kitsch being cast as Gambit instead, Chris Hemsworth reflected on how the chance to play Thor would not have presented itself had he starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

“At the time I was upset. I was running out of money. But if I played either of those characters, I wouldn’t have been able to play Thor.”

Do you think Chris Hemsworth would have been a good choice to play Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine or is it best that he landed the role of Thor? Let us know below!

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
