‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Trailer Reveals Celestials & Screaming Goats

Meet Thor's newest and loudest allies!

Thor Love and Thunder Trailer Chris Hemsworth Taika Waititi

The newest trailer for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder sees Chris Hemsworth’s Thor encountering Celestials, giant screaming goats and some seriously impressive yoga moves.

Welcoming Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi back to the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder finds Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian Avenger where Avengers: Endgame left him – traveling the universe with the Guardians of the Galaxy as he gets himself back into superhero shape. The film also sees the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who has now taken on the powers of Thor herself, wielding a restored Mjolnir.

As is to be expected from a Taika Waititi movie, Love and Thunder promises a whole lot of zany fun in much the same vein as Thor: Ragnarok. The new trailer teases plenty of outlandish moments, but also offers a cosmic Marvel surprise.

The Celestials Return To The MCU

While the trailer sees Thor encountering some new teammates in the form of his two giant goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder, it also sees the Asgardian and his allies soaring past two Celestials. First glimpsed in Guardians of the Galaxy before being properly introduced in last year’s Eternals, the Celestials are godlike beings responsible for the creation of planets and life in the Marvel universe. The two Celestials in the latest Thor: Love and Thunder trailer watch as Thor’s airborne ship sails past them, seemingly in Olympus, home of Zeus and the Greek gods.

The trailer also offers a look at Thor’s returning allies – Korg, Jane Foster, Valkyrie and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor is then seen holding off two foes on flying tank-like vehicles with his feet, pulling off some impressive midair splits. Check out the new trailer below:

Not lost in the color and fun though, is Christian Bale’s terrifying Gorr the God Butcher as he sets out to annihilate the various gods of the MCU. Given the Celestials’ godlike status – arguably, they are even closer to true gods than the Asgardians or Olympians – could they also be in Gorr’s crosshairs?

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
