CONFIRMED: ‘Booster Gold/Blue Beetle’ Movie Gets A Scribe

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold

The rumored Booster Gold and Blue Beetle film could now have a screenwriter.

In an interview with Kevin Smith on Smith’s YouTube show ‘Fatman on Batman’, Zack Stentz, screenwriter of Thor, X-Men First Class and the most recent episode of The Flash, revealed he was working on a secret project with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter. This secret project is likely the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle movie rumored to be in development with Greg Berlanti.

Due to Berlanti’s child being born the project was momentarily put on hold, allowing for Stentz to write the Kevin Smith directed episode of The Flash entitled “The Runaway Dinosaur”. In the video embeded below, Stentz reveals the project is a Warner Bros. film project based on a DC Comics property, provided further evidence to support it being the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle film.

The talk of Stentz’s upcoming secret project begins at the 5:01 mark of the video.

The whole team seems to be big fans of Booster Gold and DC superheroes in general, with Kreisberg having tried to bring a Booster Gold show to Syfy in 2013. And Berlanti, Kreisberg and Schechter are all producers on Arrow, Flash and Supergirl, the three main DC superhero shows currently on air.

Hopefully based on the team’s projects on television, the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle film will bring levity to the currently grim DC universe that Zack Snyder is building. We will likely hear an official announcement soon, and the film could possibly take one of the two untitled DC film release slots.

The next DC film Suicide Squad is in theaters August 5, 2016. It stars Viola Davis as Amanda Waller,Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, and Jared Leto as the Joker.
