A new piece of concept art from Thor: The Dark World reveals that the film almost introduced Thor’s half-brother Balder the Brave.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Balder the Brave made his debut in the pages of Journey into Mystery #85 in 1962. Balder is the son of Odin and Frigga, though he was unaware of that for a long time. In the comics, Thor’s biological mother is Gaea, the goddess of the Earth, meaning that the God of Thunder and Balder are half-brothers.
Balder the Brave has to appear on the big screen, but he almost made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Chris Hemsworth’s second cinematic solo outing as Thor. Last week, Thor: The Dark World concept artist Charlie Wen shared one of his unused pieces for the 2013 movie, featuring Balder the Brave. Check out the artwork below.
What do you think of this Thor: The Dark World piece? Did enjoy the movie? And do you want to see Balder the Brave in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let us know in the comments!
