Three ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Planets Confirmed

AMC Theaters has confirmed three new planets that will appear in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The three new planets set to appear are Mimban, Corellia, and Kessel which director Ron Howard previously teased during the film’s principal photography. AMC goes in-depth in their reveal, potentially offering up story details from the film through speculation.

The swamp world Mimban — originally introduced in the expanded universe novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye — is said to be a possible locale for where Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) could be stationed should he be serving the Empire. It could also be a planet he visits after deserting the Empire as the planet itself had a booming Black Market.

Corellia, homeworld of the young smuggler, could be where Han catches the eye of the Empire in the first place as AMC theorizes the core world is where pod racers themselves are recruited to become future TIE fighter pilots.

Star Wars fans will be most excited to see Kessel finally realized on screen as it will likely feature the Kessel Run. The Kessel Run was a hyperspace route smugglers used to transport spice from the spice mines of Kessel. The route itself includes many extreme changes in velocity in order to jump into and out of hyperspace, spending only the minimum amount of time out of hyperspace as they make pickups, drop cargo, or make tight turns. Both Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon were famous for having made the run in less than 12 parsecs.

The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo along with Joonas Suotomo as Chewbacca and Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian. The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Paul Bettany, and Ian Kenny. Here’s the official synopsis:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
