As DC Universe’s highly-anticipated exclusive series Titans gets ready to finally premiere to the public, fans are quite curious to see this unique take on the beloved heroic team that consists of Robin, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. In Robin’s case, we will be seeing him after a falling-out he had with Batman.
The stars of Titans recently discussed the dynamic that their respective characters have, teasing some of what the heroes will deal with throughout this first season. Robin actor Brenton Thwaites elaborates on Robin’s status after getting away from Batman:
“He’s at a point where he doesn’t agree with [Batman’s] way of fighting crime, so he went on the road to find justice in a way that he believes in. He’s trying to find his ‘new thing,’ though it’s clear he hasn’t found it. But he’s searching, and that’s what the show is about.”
Thwaites also discussed the brother/sister dynamic Robin shares with Raven (Teagan Croft). Thwaites explains Robin has an intuition about her:
“…intuition tells him that Rachel needs him, and that draws him strangely close to the sort of things he has been trying to get away from.”
Starfire actress Anna Diop also discussed how her character factors into the premiere:
In the pilot episode, Starfire wakes up having lost her memory. She doesn’t know anything about herself,” says portrayer Ann Diop (24: Legacy). But as she embarks on a Memento-like journey to gather the pieces, “She starts to find out who she is.
“She’s very instinctive, so sometimes she’ll have the urge to do something, and she’ll just do it. Like, ‘Oh, I guess I have this power!”
Last but not least, we have Ryan Potter as Beast Boy – who is looking to be the much-needed light in his new friends’ lives:
“He’s a kid in a candy store. He’s the light at the end of a dark hallway, and we can be in a dark hallways sometimes on this show!”
