A budget for Tom Cruise’s upcoming SpaceX film with Elon Musk and Universal has been revealed and will reportedly cost around $200M.
Tom Cruise is no stranger to taking risks for the sake of his films. Be it doing a Halo jump out of a plane or holding on to an actual moving plane, the actor frequently risks life and limb to get an awesome and realistic shot for his films. Now this includes going to space through Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Tom Cruise would be doing a film that would be shot partly in space through Elon Musk’s SpaceX program with N.A.S.A. Earlier this month it was then revealed that Universal would be backing the film with director Doug Liman helming the project. Now we know just how much the upcoming film will cost the studio.
According to a new report from Deadline, Tom Cruise’s upcoming Space X film will cost Universal around $200M. The actor, alongside, director Doug Liman and frequent Tom Cruise collaborator and Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie managed to pitch the film to Universal on a Zoom call and get a projected budget of $200M for the film. The SpaceX film currently does not have a script with Doug Liman working on it.

Tom Cruise’s next film, Top Gun: Maverick is currently set to be released in theaters on December 23, 2020. The upcoming SpaceX project currently does not have a release date.
