It isn’t a surprise to anyone that the man who plays Superman, Henry Cavill, is in the next Mission Impossible film. In fact, his involvement with the franchise is one of the key reasons the reshoots of Justice League were dealt a hysterical blow. As part of his agreement to star in the sixth instalment of the Paramount Pictures property, he grew and maintained a moustache throughout the course of principal photography. The studio’s reluctance in allowing Cavill to shave off that very moustache was the reason for the odd CGI around his upper lip in scenes that were reshot for Justice League. The FX team behind Superman’s CGI lip had a lot of work to do because Cavill had an epic moustache.
While there have been rumors of animosity between Warner Bros (the studio behind Justice League) and Paramount, a new report tells us that the energy on the set of Mission Impossible: Fallout was a far cry from anything negative.
According to a promotional appearance of Mission Impossible stars Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg on The Graham Norton Show, the weight of their co-star Cavill’s role as comic book’s most beloved superhero, was not lost on them. As evidenced by the fact that they would tease him by humming the classic Superman theme by John Williams.
Simon Pegg: We were shooting a car chase in Paris and it was me, Tom, Sean Harris, Ving Rhames and Henry. So it’s a very cramped car, particularly with Ving and Henry who are both big guys, and me in the middle. Bombing around Paris, and every time we finish the shot, we have to reset the shot, drive back to the start point so we can do it again. Henry has had enough of sitting in the cramped car, so he says, ‘Can I run back, I’ll run back.’ So Henry took off and ran back to position one whereas we just drove next to him going, [mimics classic Superman theme song].
Tom Cruise: He was doing the score, we’re just driving, he did the whole thing the whole way, right next to him.
Henry Cavill: It’s one of the coolest moments of my life is having Tom Cruise do that driving next to you. You know you’ve made it.

It seems even on the set of a movie as big as Mission Impossible, Henry Cavill is still synonymous with Superman. This will be Cavil’s first entry into franchise, joining veteran Tom Cruise and regulars Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, along with returning actress Rebecca Ferguson.
