Two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks is in early talks to play Gepetto in Disney’s live-action Pinocchio movie.
Collider has learned Hanks is in early talks to portray Pinocchio’s maker in Disney’s live-action remake. Paddington’s Paul King is set to direct while Rogue One‘s Chris Weitz and Depth of Field partner Andrew Miano will produce. King, Weitz, and Simon Farnaby penned the most recent draft of the script. The film has no release date at this time.
Pinocchio is one of many upcoming live-action remakes of animated films in development at Disney with next being Dumbo, here is the synopsis:
Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
Directed by Tim Burton from a script written by Ehren Kruger, Dumbo stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Alan Arkin.
Dumbo will be released in theaters on March 29, 2019.
