Currently one of the most talented and beloved actors in the business, Tom Hardy is wanted for a lot of upcoming projects, including sequels for some of his previous movies like 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, a smashing hit that ended up winning 6 Academy Awards and collecting hundreds of other awards and nominations. So, how soon can we expect a sequel?
Talking to The Daily Beast, Hardy revealed that the stories are all ready, and that the initial deal included three films, so he’s just waiting for the call.
‘George Miller is a genius! The wheels were rolling from the beginning of Fury Road for three films, so I would assume it’s just crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. There are other Mad Max vehicles and Furiosa vehicles that are out there—as far as the characters’ mythologies and stories—so it’s a little bit… I’m waiting for the call to get back in the leathers and get cracking on that. I really loved doing it and can’t wait for another outing. I’m hungry to go back out and do some more.’
One other project that fans would want to see Hardy in is a James Bond movie. After Daniel Craig expressed his desire to move on, the internet went wild looking for the next agent to take over, and one of the most talked about names was Tom Hardy. When asked about the chance of him playing Bond and maybe even teaming up with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in a future installment, Hardy responded.
‘You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone. But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie. Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow after. I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound—again.’
