Loki showrunner Michael Waldron commented on the journey of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief in the Disney Plus series.

When Earth’s Mightiest Heroes traveled back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, their mission brought some of them back to the battle of New York in 2012 and inadvertently resulted in the past version of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki using the tesseract to escape capture. Soon, Marvel Studios will reveal where Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief disappeared to in the eponymous character’s upcoming series for Disney Plus.

During an interview with Forever Dogs Podcast, Loki showrunner Michael Waldron commented on how the journey of Tom Hiddleston’s trickster will be informed by his experiences over the past decade of Marvel films. As Michael Waldron explained, Loki’s struggle with control and his identity will be explored further in the Disney Plus series:

“I think it’s the struggle with identity, who you are, who you want to be. I’m really drawn to characters who are fighting for control. Certainly you see that with Loki over the first ten years of movies, he’s out of control at pivotal parts of his life, he was adopted and everything and that manifests itself through anger and spite towards his family.”
