Conversations regarding a Back To The Future remake starring Tom Holland have happened.
One of the most popular fan castings in recent memory is Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. taking on the roles of Marty McFly and Doc Brown for a potential Back To The Future remake. One of the biggest hits from the eighties, Back To The Future has cemented itself as a cultural touchstone in our collective pop culture. In fact, with Hollywood’s obsession with nostalgia and old properties, it’s down-right surprising that a Back To The Future remake hasn’t been ordered.
At the center of would-be castings and rumors is Tom Holland, the picture-perfect successor to Marty McFly actor Michael J. Fox. After the release of a deepfake video that saw Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the world of Back To The Future, speculation for a potential remake has reached new heights. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Tom Holland revealed that conversations regarding a Back To The Future remake have happened, but he isn’t ready to take on such a perfect film.
“I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been conversations in the past about doing some sort of remake, but that film is the most perfect film- or one of the most perfect films, one that could never be made better. That said, if [Robert Downey Jr.] and I could just shoot that one scene that they remade for fun – he could pay for it cause he’s got loads of money – I would do it for my fee and we could remake that scene. I think we owe it to deep fake because they did such a good job. … I think I’m gonna speak to Robert and see if we can try to recreate something for deep fake.”
