Tom Holland Would Also Like ‘Captain America’ To Appear In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Tom Holland Spider-Man Homecoming CapIt was recently confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. would have a role in next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming but that’s not the only Avenger that star Tom Holland wants to make an appearance. While speaking with MTV, Holland commented on the subject as well as the difference between his Spider-Man and previous incarnations of the character.

You’re really gonna get to see a kid with superpowers. And one of the nicest things about [Captain America: Civil War] is that you see a real kid reacting to Avengers just how a real kid would, and that’s exactly how I reacted. That’s one of the main differences.

On the matter of other characters that he’d like to make an appearance in the film, Holland stated the following.

I really like Iron Man, he’s obviously my favorite. I’d like Cap to show up at some point. I think that would be really cool if he did.

We’ll have to wait and see if Tom Holland gets his wish and director Jon Watts & the film’s screenwriters John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein find a way to decide to include the character. Would you like to see Chris Evans make an appearance in the film as well? Sound off with your thoughts on the subject in the comments below.

Does this mean that Captain America does not die in “Civil War?”

Apparently… Unless Holland didn’t get the entire script or something. I think they’re going to hold off on killing any of the characters who have had their own movies until Infinity Wars. Then we might see Cap eat it with Bucky or Falcon taking up the mantle of Captain America.

    • Cap doesn’t die in Civil War. Source: I’ve seen it.

The film ends with Cap forming the Secret Avengers (Cap, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Falcon – basically Team Cap) by breaking them out of the Raft and then going to Wakanda to put Bucky in deep freeze again (the mid-credits scene). He definitely isn’t dead, nothing even close. Cap even wins the final fight vs Iron Man.

After the interaction between Cap and Spidey in Civil War, I really want to see more of them together. And I think it would be nice to see some conflict between Spider-Man and Iron Man. [VERY MINOR SPOILERS FOLLOW]

The stuff Peter said to Tony about doing the right thing otherwise the bad stuff that happens is your fault (basically Civil War’s version of ‘with great power there must also come great responsibility’), was really more in line with Cap’s position in the movie. I think you could see on Tony’s face that he realised that before brushing it off with comments about ‘helping the little guy’. With the full details on the civil war presumably making it into the press after the events of the movie – and Peter probably not wanting to be told by the government when he can and can’t save people – it would be nice to see him regretting siding with Iron Man. Cap would make a much better mentor for him. Iron Man, however, could probably learn a thing or two from Spidey.
