When asked about what two supervillains Tom Holland would like his iteration of Spider-Man to fight the most, the answers were surprisingly a bit familiar โ and they were both previously featured in the Sam Raimi trilogy.
ScreenRant has been on a roll with Spider-Man: Homecomingย interviews as of late, and at one point they got a chance to talk with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland about who heโd like to fight while he plays Spider-Man. He answered with two of the most popular villains in the webslingerโs Roguesโ Gallery:
โOh, well I love Doc Ock. I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. But I think Venom is someone Iโd love to kick the crap out of one day.โ
Of these two, itโs easier to imagine that Doctor Octopus will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. Venom is probably a more complicated point as long as Sony continues with their questionably-advised, MCU-free spin-offs, as Sony evidently has their own plans for the character. Itโs incredibly unlikely that the Sony-Verse movies are going to cross over into the MCU or vice-versa, so itโs still possible that Marvel will want to have their own take on Venom at a much later point in time.
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017. The film features a cast that includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Robert Downey Junior as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Zendaya Coleman as Michelle, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as โFlashโ Thompson, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Harold โHappyโ Hogan, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes (Vulture), Bokeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz (Shocker), and Michael Chernus as Phineas Mason (Tinkerer). A sequel is planned for release on July 5, 2019.
