Spider-Man: Far From Home gives the Spider-Sense a new name for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: the Peter Tingle and the writers are letting fans in on the shift.

Aunt May came up with the ‘Peter Tingle’ as a funny name for what fans know as the Spider-Sense (or Spidey-Sense). Spider-Man: Far From Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers talked with the Wrap about why they changed the name for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

“We were always struggling to be a little more nuanced about it or a little sideways about this special power of his without being on the nose and calling it ‘Spider Sense,’”

Erik Sommers continued:

“Well do we call it nothing? What do we call it? Do we go for something that’s more of a joke name?” “And I assure you, we went around and around and tried all different kind of things.”

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has shown hints of using the Spider-Sense, namely in Avengers: Infinity War when the hair stands on his arms when sensing Thanos’ ship. The name “Spider-Sense” has never been said in the MCU, however, giving the writers much more wiggle room to work with.

This wouldn’t be the only change the movie made from the comics. Fans called Thanos’ event “The Snap” while Spider-Man: Far From Home called it “The Blip.”

Aside from working as Spider-Man, Tom Holland will also appear in the animated movie Spies in Disguise in December alongside Will Smith. He will also star in the movie The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle in 2020 with Robert Downey Jr.
