Tom Hardy’s Venom gets transformed into Tom Holland’s Spider-Man’s black costume in this amazing new fan edit made by BossLogic.

The latest promo image of Venom caused quite the stir on the Internet. Most fan reaction was positive, complimenting the character’s design as being accurate to the comic books. It didn’t take long for this image to be edited, however, into the iconic black Spider-Man suit.

In the comic books, Venom debuted months and months after Spider-Man accidentally gets his black suit during the 1984 series Secret Wars and returns to NYC with his makeover. Spidey soon realizes that his black suit is actually alive, and this organism is a symbiote that is feeding off Peter Parker. Eventually, Spider-Man rids himself of the suit after the symbiote tries to permanently bond with him, and so the symbiote escapes and eventually meets up with Eddie Brock. Brock happened to be in the same church as Spider-Man and the symbiote while they were fighting, and so when the symbiote finds this new host who coincidentally happened to have a grudge against Spider-Man, the two joined forces to become the iconic villain.

Obviously, Tom Hardy’s Venom is forgoing this origin story in favor of something vastly different, but fan artist extraordinaire BossLogic couldn’t contain himself and edited the promo image of Venom into what he thinks Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would look like with the black suit. The results are, of course, amazing.

Plot details on the film are currently under wraps, though director Ruben Fleischer revealed that the film will be based on the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes comic book runs. Whether or not Spider-Man – who played a significant role in both stories – will make an appearance remains unclear.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze and Woody Harrelson.

Venom will be released in theaters on October 5, 2018.
